ChatGPT Image Mar 12, 2026, 09_38_09 PM.png

This year we are looking for more junior players to bolster our ranks!  Junior hockey is enjoyed by kids from ages 8 to 15, over four different divisions.

U/10

Great fun for kids aged 10 or under.  A fantastic introduction to the sport and a great way for kids to learn about team work, respect on the field, and how to have a great time playing sport.

J Series

Because kids grow and develop differently, our junior program at Townsvile Hockey is skills and capability based, rather that an aged based system.

Younger kids, or kids newer to hockey will generally start in J4.  The pace is slower, it's a more forgiving game, and gives them the time and space to develop their skills.

As they progress in size, speed, strength and skill, they move up through the J leagues to J1.  J1 is usually made up of kids aged 14 and 15, or some younger kids with experience who are looking for (and the coaches agree are ready) for an additional challenge.

When & Where Do Juniors Play?

Junior games are played on Saturday mornings at Townsville Hockey Centre, on Murray Lyons Crescent in Annandale.  The earliest fixtures begin at 8:30 and the last junior games typically wrap up by 12:40.  The teams play a mixture of natural grass and artificial turf throughout the season.

How Much Does it Cost?

Total fees are $431.796 per year, made up of:

Brothers Hockey: $57

Townsville Hockey: $263.75

Qld Hockey: $111.21

Can my kids give it a go and see how they like it?

Yes!  Come to training on a Wednesday night at 5:15 and have a run, chat to the coach, and see how it feels.  Hockey is a great family sport and brother's is a welcoming, community and family oriented club.
